Failure Project; The Symptoms

All of us wants to succeded, however I believe many of us has such a situation where you think that you are inside a hopeless project.Most of us are depends on our senses -the feel inside your heart- that this is just not right. Well, i’m trying to describe here about my feeling in the past working on some failure project.

Overwhelming;

This is the first signs that you are heading on a failure project, all the team members & the leader are really excited about the concept and somehow missed the objective & rational side. This is not the critical process and can be fixed on the next step. But if you are having a lack experience about handling the project that you are about to manage, it is better find someone to brainstorm & debate about your project. This someone must be neutral & outside your project environment.

Disillusionment;

After an overwhelming condition, both team members and the leaders are getting disillusionment about the project planning, most of it because of human resource allocation, budget, scheduling are looks great but in fact it’s irrational. This phase make the team members think that this project is very heavy, plus very high target followed from the overwhelmed situation before.The team members are get confused. This is where the leader should be aware about what’s went wrong and realised the situation. Otherwise they are going to the next phase.

Total Confusion;

The manager & team members are really messed up with the situation. Most of them are don’t know what to do, and starting to lost direction. At this point, the manager/leader should give 2 condition, start from scratch or shutdown the project.

Who Blame Who;

Now, instead of looking for themself for some kind of introspection, everyone trying to find a black sheep. This is because they are failed to finish the given task & in some situation you really hate your manager position. Because most of the time, if the project fail, everybody will look at the manager. Even it can be caused by many factors, both internal & external.

Punishment of The innocent;

Black sheep are found, so it’s time punish him. The punishment can be many kinds. From reorganising to firing. But the worst part is, if you ever inside a failure project, the shadow behind it are still going with you. Unless you are having a strong mental & confidence. I hope you have it, otherwise you will be stuck with your past.

Even though you’re ever working on a failed project, the best thing is life goes on with or without you, take your lesson. If you read many biography of the most successful people, they’re having tons of failure before. So why bother it? Go on, Move along, failure is another step of success.

Anyway, this symptomps are oftenly caused by internal factors such as lack of leadership skills, inexperience of the team members & management skills etc.
